it starts tonight!

I haven't talked about my plan for the next 10 days much because I wasn't exactly sure I was going to go until yesterday.. BUT

Everything worked out.
I finished what I needed to.
I got my shifts at work covered.
Which means...I'm going on a road trip!
People: Arthur, his friend Taylor, and his girlfriend Erika and her brother.
Duration: 10 Days.
States: 13 of em'!
Reason:  To pick up Erika, who is moving here for the summer.  Their story is adorable, and so are they.  Long story short, they have been in a long distance relationship for about 1.5 years and the longest time they have spent together is a little more than a week.  And now they get a whole summer!

Our plan is to fly to New York TONIGHT (red eye) and go to Taylor's girlfriends parent's house.
We will spend two nights in NY and then start our road trip back to Eugene.  We got a car which means 5 people..in a 5 person car.  Comfortable, right?!

I'm not exactly sure where we are staying, or where we are stopping.  I'm not sure if they guys are too sure either...but that will be all part of the adventure! I'll try and keep this updated with daily excursions and how the trip has been going. I have a lot to do between now and tonight but I am so excited!

I finished all but one of my finals this week (thankful for prayer and the ability to take my finals early :) ).  Next week all I have is a take home final which will be easy to do online.  It all worked out so well.  And to think I got so stressed over it.  There I go again....

I CANNOT wait to start this journey.

I'll keep my thousands of readers posted, don't worry :)

Typhoons, Tokyo, and Taylor Swift

We just went into TCCOR 1 ( T ropical C yclone C onditions o f R eadiness), which means destructive sustained winds of 50 knots or greater are expected within 12 hours... kind of scary,  but more so kind of exciting!  This will be our first typhoon that we are going through and as of now, I'm excited!  We've downloaded movies, have lots of snacks and water ready, and I get to spend time with the hubster... what more could I want?! ....  I wrote that last night. and now it's 7:30AM.  Nothing big happened last night, just kind of windy but nothing crazy.  SOOO Arthur and I both got ready for work this morning and just as I finished getting ready and was walking downstairs to my car, Arthur yelled for me to come back up.  We went into TCCOR 1C (Caution) which means no work for the two of us as of now!  YAY!!!

That time when Derek and Katie visited Okinawa...

I think I should start off saying I have the coolest brother ever, and due to the fact that he’s marrying Katie, I guess she’s cool by association. JK. She’s great too. What makes them even cooler is that fact that they came and visited our little Japanese island we call home. (Yes, it’s OURS!) After spending a few days in Tokyo, they flew down south to Japan’s “Hawaii”.      I’ll have you know, we checked the forecast the day they were arriving and it said rain for the next 6 days (the length of time they were here for). With lots of prayers, I’m so thankful to say that the weather was amazing the whole time they were here! It was sunny and warm and perfect. Thank you Jesus!   Arthur and I met Derek and Katie at the airport, only to be greeted with what I would picture as the Japanese version of them. They walked off with facemasks on and if it weren’t for their height, I may have mistaken them for true Japanese! ;) (see video below) They were s...

10 Reasons Why Japan is Wonderful

Japan is a very special, unique little place.  Well- it’s not THAT little. Especially when it holds a population of around 127 million.  But what makes Japan so great?  Because as soon as you step on their soil, you know there is something wonderful about the place.  I’ve compiled a list of interesting characteristics about Japan and its people that have captured my love for this foreign, hello-kitty loving, beautiful place.   CUSTOMER SERVICE.  I haven’t been somewhere that has such great customer service.  They will literally run to get you what you asked for, or run around to try and make sure that the customer is happy.  I once asked about a product in the grocery store and they ran to the back of the store, bagged up what I needed, and ran it back to me in under two minutes. 2.       CUSTOMER SERVICE IN RESTAURANTS The customer service in restaurants is quite different than in the U.S.  Typically, they hav...
